Blogovision/My top-20 albums of the year - no.01: Bjork - Vulnicura

Maybe he will come out of this loving me
Maybe he will come out of this
I smell declarations of solitude
Maybe he will come out of this
Vietnam vet comes after the war
Lands in my house
This wild lion doesn't fit in this chair

Lyrics from Lion Song by Bjork, from the album Vulnicura

Blogovision/My top-20 albums of the year - no.02: Tame Impala - Currents

Once again, as it takes a hold
I am aware I'm not in control
You see, I have a conscience and it's never fooled
But it's prone to be overruled
You wanna know what I always think I'm bind by
You never accept defeat or let it slide
But I have no voice if I don't speak my mind
My weakness is the source of all my pride, I'll tell you why

Lyrics from Cause I'm A Man by Tame Impala, from the album Currents

Blogovision/My top-20 albums of the year - no.03: Roisin Murphy - Hairless Toys

We were glass house girls
Full of joie de vivre and verve
Built a house of glass
Out of fragments from the blast
When it's all revealed
Must be seen to be believed
Little raincoat sister
Weren't allowed to dream
Made a new reality

Lyrics from House Of Glass by Roisin Murphy, from the album Hairless Toys

Blogovision/My top-20 albums of the year - no.05: Foals - What Went Down

Through lanes and stone rows
Black granite, wind blows
Fire lake and far flame
Go now but come again
Dark clouds gather 'round
Will I run or stand my ground?
Oh, when I come to climb
Show me the mountain so far behind
Yeah, it's farther away
Its shadow gets smaller day after day

Lyrics from Mountain At The Gates by Foals, from the album What Went Down

Blogovision/My top-20 albums of the year - no.06: John Grant - Grey Tickles, Black Pressure

The paranoia, the uncertainty
The stupid knowing way they're grinning when they look at me
They say it's me, how do they know
My mind and body have betrayed me and it shows
My brain reboots each time the sun begins to shine
And if I didn't know better then I'd swear to you that it's not mine
I can't control my face, I can't avoid that furrowed brow
Would've thought they'd send someone right over to show me how

Lyrics from Geraldine by John Grant, from the album Grey Tickles, Black Pressure

Blogovision/My top-20 albums of the year - no.07: Jamie Woon - Making Time

Never been so inside
When I give into you
Never been so existent
You can't know unless you feel it,
come back bodies aching from the want and the waiting
I kept this pain when you're leaving
Never felt this before

Lyrics from Sharpness by Jamie Woon, from the album Making Time

Blogovision/My top-20 albums of the year - no.09: Scott Matthew - This Here Defeat

Does anyone wanna leave this place, c'mon
go underground without a sound, c'mon
let skylines change
the headlines blame
with blood it stains
don't we feel the same?
can anyone piece my friends back together
if you stitch your head to my shoulder
you can cry upon it.

Lyrics from Skyline by Scott Matthew, from the album This Here Defeat

Blogovision/My top-20 albums of the year - no.13: Ibeyi - Ibeyi

Carry away my dead leaves
Let me baptize my soul with the help of your waters
Sink my pains and complains
Let the river take them, river drown them
My ego and my blame
Let me baptize my soul with the help of your waters
Those all means are so ashamed
Let the river take them, river drown them

Lyrics from River by Ibeyi, from the album Ibeyi

Blogovision/My top-20 albums of the year - no.15: The Maccabees - Marks To Prove It

If you love them go and tell them
Tell them over and over and over again
Heaven forbid opportunity’s missed
And if it’s over, let it be over
‘Cos when time and again
You have tried it again
And you've worn it right down to the bone

Blogovision/My top-20 albums of the year - no.17: Jaakko Eino Kalevi - Jaakko Eino Kalevi

No one cares about you and your things
No one cares about you
You can go your own way
You can call it unknown
You can’t see or perceive
No use even try
Anything you want you can have
Anything you want
I wanna go tonight to the deeper shadows

Song of the year: Siouxsie Sioux & Brian Reitzell - Love Crime (Hannibal Tv Series)

After eight years without any new recordings, Siouxsie is finally back again, with a song written for the finale of TV series Hannibal, along with the series' soundtrack composer, Brian Reitzell. While what we have heard is only a fragment of the full song (as Reitzell declared in an interview), it is mesmerising and easily the best song of 2015 by far.

This After Hours show was dedicated to the Carly Simon album "Hello Big Man: from 1983. It is an old favourite of mine, bringing back lots of memories, especially of the summer of 1984, when, having summer lessons every weekday for my English Cambridge Lower exams, I'd start my day listening to the namesake song from this album before going to class. Still love it to bits.

The Sandman Chronicles on Poplie radio, 07/06/2015

After Hours on Poplie radio: Prefab Sprout - Steve McQueen - 27/05/2015

This is a show of mine from the After Hours zone of Poplie radio, where each DJ from the station presents one album that he considers special. Again I tried to comment on each and every song and talk about why it is important. not only for me but also for music history, as it is considered one of the best albums ever, finding its position in many music magazines and critics top-100 lists of all-time-best albums.

TV Songs - The Sandman Chronicles on Poplie radio, 19/4/2015

A radio show dedicated to songs from recent TV series - along with the renaissance of TV series, the quality of TV soundtracks, whether specially written for TV or not has also risen exponentially.
